Hi guys!
My name is Kin, I’m 20 years old and I’m from Bangkok, Thailand, and currently studying at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.
I guess the following will be my testimony.
I was raised (luckily for me) as a Christian, going to church with my mum. My dad is a buddhist, but he was and still is open to my mum, sister and I practicing our own faith.
I accepted Jesus into my life the first time when I was 12 at my youth group at my old church. Over the years I have reaffirmed my faith repeatedly, but I have yet to be baptised. I find my reasoning behind this being that I want to be sure I’m ready before I do commit to this. To me, baptism is a huge deal, and it not only metaphorically symbolises being reborn, but it would truly be a turning point in my life.
Over the years being in church I have also strayed from God in my teenage years a few times. Living in Bangkok attending an international school also has it’s worldly temptations, and I would cave sometimes.
One thing that always brought me back to Jesus is worship. I’ve been playing on various worship teams since 11, and my entire cognitive life I’ve been listening to worship music as my main music base, being influenced by bands such as Hillsong United, Hillsong Live, Planetshakers, Desperation Band, etc. Whenever I did stray off His path for me, His music brought me back.
I have a passion for music, or even more for worship. Because of worship I’ve picked up the drums, guitar, bass, my little ukelele and touched a bit on my prior knowledge of piano and violin. My motivation behind learning these instruments were always worship, and I love just hearing a worship song and rushing back home to try decipher it on my guitar.
All in all, I consider myself extremely blessed to have had such a great upbringing in church and in my family, and I’m blessed to be able to attend a church in Sydney that has been a lifeline to me my entire life.
